3) KG-689E – How do I set-up a channel to work with a repeater with a transmit offset frequency?
Answer：You must start in frequency mode (see FAQ 1)
i. step 1 (receive setup) -- In frequency mode enter the full transmit frequency of the repeater (the frequency you want to receive) via the key pad (example 145.010): then push menu; 3+7; menu; channel number (example 2;0;); then push menu; then push exit.
ii. step 2 (transmit setup) – still in frequency mode, enter the full receive frequency of the repeater (the frequency you will transmit on) via the key pad (example 145.610 a +600 kHz offset): then push menu; 3+7; menu; menu; exit.
iii. Example：setup the receive frequency firstly: 1+4+5+0+1+0; menu; 3+7; menu; enter channel No.2+0; menu; exit (step1) setup the transmit frequency secondly :1+4+5+6+1+0; menu; 3+7; menu; menu; exit (step2)
Note: that in step 2 you do not enter the channel number again.
4) KG-689E – why is the pattern menu; #; #; menu. Required to work with a menu?
Answer: Pushing the menu key for the first time tells the unit that you want to work with one of the pre-programmed menus, #;# (example menu; 2;4;) identifies the menu want to work with (24 = set the scan mode menu). Pushing the menu key again actually enters and activates the selected menu; thus the menu; #; #; menu pattern. An alternate way to access a menu is push menu, and then use the up or down arrow keys to find the desired menu; then push menu again to select and activate that menu.

Answer: You must start in frequency mode (see FAQ 1)
